Current Housing Projects

Aurora Estate Epping North

Partnering with Berry Street and VicUrban, VWHA was successful in securing funding through the Victoria Property Fund to build two 3 bedroom houses. The target groups for tenancy are Indigenous and refugee women escaping domestic violence. Due for completion in September 2010.

Wallangarra Estate Truganina

Partnering with Melbourne City Mission and Women's Health West, VWHA has secured Nation Building funding for three 3 bedroom houses and four 4 bedroom houses. Target groups for tenancy are women with three or more children escaping domestic violence or exiting correctional facilities. Due for completion in October 2010.

Tarneit Rise Estate Tarneit

Partnering with Hermitage Homes, Melbourne City Mission and Women's Health West, VWHA has secured funding for three 3 bedroom houses and five 4 bedroom houses. Target groups for tenancy are women with three or more children escaping domestic violence or exiting correctional facilities. Six houses are due for completion in December 2010, with the final two houses to be completed by June 2011.

Barkly Theatre Footscray

Partnering with McAuley Community Services for Women and Women's Health West, VWHA has secured funding for seven 1 bedroom apartments and two 2 bedroom apartments. Target groups for tenancy are single low-income women for 1 bedroom apartments and women sharing or women with 1 child for 2 bedroom apartments. Due for completion in July 2010.

Albert Street Brunswick

Partnering with Deal Corp and The Matrix Group, VWHA has secured Nation Building funding for six 2 bedroom apartments. Target groups for tenancy are older lesbian women and shared accommodation for single low-income women. Due for completion in March 2011.

University Hill Bundoora

In partnership with WISHIN (Women's Information, Support and Housing in the North), Berry Street and North East Housing, and using Nation Building funding, VWHA is purchasing seven 1 bedroom apartments and seven 2 bedroom apartments in a development on University Hill in Bundoora. Tenant target groups are single, low-income women, women sharing or women with 1 or 2 children. Construction is complete and VWHA took ownership of the apartments in June 2010.
